Rise to Fame at Nordic Game!!

Nordic Game conference is an annual event for the game industry professionals. NG17 will be held from 17th to 19th May at Slagthuset in Malmö, Sweden. Over 2,000 professionals are expected to join the event. Nordic Game is the one and only “home turf” meeting place for the highly successful game developers of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

The best in the industry will join the event as speakers. Among the speakers will be Aleissia Laidacker (was lead AI on multiple Assassin’s Creed games), Charlie Bewsher (design director on Halo Wars 2), Fumito Ueda (Game creator of ICO, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian), Oskar Burman (has lead the Rovio studio behind Angry Birds 2) and many others.

Nordic Game Fast Track sessions will be short and precise talks between the game developers and audience. If you have some topic for the Fast Track you can also send your proposal (as per the specifications mentioned on the website) at jacob@nordicgame.com.

If you are a developer in need of some investments or an investor looking for a promising talent, Investing in Games will make your work a lot easier. Developers pitch their games and global venture capital investors are there to support them. Also, Meet to Match will throw innumerable business networking opportunities at you. Register for the event and schedule short, face to face meetings with the people you would like to do business with.

The Nordic Game Expo will display the latest innovations in games and will offer you a great platform for learning and networking. Nordic Game Social Events will be dedicated to networking and fun. Last year had 9 such events. One of the events in 2017 will be the IGDA Finland Party on the first day of the event. The list of all the events is yet to be released.

Nordic Game Awards are organised by the Nordic Game Institute in cooperation with Nordic Game Resources and the Nordic Game conference. It will be interesting to have a look at the last year’s winners in various categories like the below Nordic Game of the Year 2016.

Nordic Game of the Year – Small Screen 2016, Best Art 2016, Best Game Design 2016, Best Technology 2016, Best Audio 2016, Best Fun for Everyone 2016 and Jury’s Special Mention (VR).

The Discovery Day Program is dedicated to the indie developers, it includes speakers, showcase, networking and party. Nordic Game Discovery Contest will be an exciting competition where, selected game projects will be showcased at live pitch events in different countries. This year, the tour will include 3 events:

  • Reboot, 20-22 April, Dubrovnik, Croatia
  • Nordic Game Jam, 21 April, Copenhagen, Denmark
  • Quo Vadis, 24-26 April, Berlin, Germany

The Finals will have 3 rounds, consisting of 2 semi-finals (17th & 18th May) and 1 grand final (19th May). In these rounds, the participants go on stage, pitch their game within 5 minutes and answer the questions from experts for another 5 minutes. The ones selected for the finals will pitch their games in front of the audience and the judges. The Discovery Contest Game of the Year wins guaranteed coverage/interviews with media outlets such as GamesIndustry.biz and Venture Beat, a free booth at the EGX Festival in September (the UK’s biggest game event) and a free pass to NG18 next year.
